I'm not a smart man

I'm Not a Smart Man

There is a difference between being "Ignorant" and "Uneducated". Uneducated means you have not been taught, Ignorant means you've been taught, but you still don't get it. Ok, those are my definitions, but my point is, that there are things in life we are ignorant about and then there are things in life that we're just uneducated.

For example, every job you can get, you can get trained in a lot of different areas for that company. There is so much to learn and a lot of people don't want to fool with training you, I guess they forget what it's like to be new. The thing that bothers me about it is when someone expects you to get something that you've never did before. They treat you like you are ignorant, but really you are just uneducated. Now if I can't learn over time, I might be ignorant, an idiot, or a moron, but to walk into a totally new environment and be proficient, thrive, and do things great is unrealistic.

My point is sometimes as christians we expect new christians or un-churched people checking out christianity to feel, act, or be the way we are. We forget what it's like to be lost and looking or to be a new christian or new to the faith. No one walks up the church aisle or jumps out of the waters of baptism and becomes a mature christian versed in all the church lingo, slogans, and ways. They will not be a well-versed in the bible, church doctrine, or how to even act as a christian. They may not stop doing bad habits, saying bad words, or doing bad things overnight. It takes time to learn, grow, develop, and mature as a Christian.

We should all be a support, encouragement, example, and partner with people who are investigating church, checking out christianity, or new to their faith. We must never forget we were once lost, but now found. We must remember we too once felt overwhelmed with the bible, going to church, and all the things that comes with a major life change and those changes happen over time not overnight.

People may be uneducated when it comes to God, but that doesn't mean they are ignorant. I think sometimes the ones who are ignorant are those who've been warming church pews for years, but never have got it. If you've been a christian for awhile and are still not letting God change your life and you are not letting God use you, then maybe you're the one missing the education. None of us have arrived or ever will. Everyday we must seek God, learn from our mistakes, attempt to grow our faith through the help of the Holy Spirit, and understand where our strength comes from. Help somebody this week, let's not forget people out there need help and support.

"At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we have done, but because of his mercy."
Titus 3:3-5a(NIV)
